這次專案是林嘉欣著用 Balenciaga 替 VOGUE 拍攝 eCover 系列，在同個白棚內替品牌拍攝了三套不同的 Look，每一套的視覺主題都很有趣。我們只挑選其中一套 Look 作為作品集來聊聊，這支的視覺是用投影機為主打造的，給我一種像是從前拍攝底片後拿到的印樣，把印樣列印在主體（人和服裝）上，投影出的色調與光影變化本身就令人著迷，而我們需要小心的是在以投影機燈泡的流明為基準的前提下，給予人物乾淨且保有輪廓的主光，確保不會沖淡投影，所以要精準地確認光比強度，並且用黑旗確實遮蔽散出的雜光。使用了傳統的 HMI 燈具打透 8*8 Silk，讓光線在乾淨柔和的前提仍保有一定的硬光質感，是我很喜歡的細節。 專案還有兩組 Look 拍攝總計在三小時內完成，且因為和平面攝影幾乎是同時在作業，所以這次的專案在打光的當下——都不能開燈測試，只能憑藉腦中構想去預打，然後在藝人進場的幾分鐘內開燈作調校，是一次有挑戰卻滿足的拍攝過程，未來如果有找到另外兩組 Look 的檔案，再來和各位分享。
For this project, Karena Lam wore Balenciaga for a VOGUE eCover series — three different looks for the brand, all shot in the same white studio, each with a visual theme of its own. I'll just talk through one of them. This look was built mainly around a projector, and it gives me the feeling of an old contact print pulled from film — printed straight onto the person and the clothes. The light from the projection is dancing on its own. The crucial part was that everything had to be judged against the lumens of the projector bulb: the key light on her needed to stay clean and hold her contours without washing the projection out. So we had to be precise with the lighting ratio, and use black flags to block any spill. We punched a traditional HMI through an 8×8 Silk, which kept the light clean and soft while still holding a certain hard-light quality — a detail I really like. The shoot covered two more looks as well, all wrapped within three hours, and because we were running almost at the same time as the stills photography, we couldn't turn the lights on to test as we set up. I had to pre-light from the picture in my head, then turn them on and fine-tune in the few minutes after Karena stepped in. A challenging but satisfying shoot. If I ever track down the files for the other two looks, I'll share them too.
